Lighting
The success of the scheme at night time will depend upon the quality of the lighting. It is important that the lighting is concealed and not provide glare sources which would inhibit the views of the water.

Lighting within the development will server a number of functions. It increases safety in the public realm, will aid in geographic orientation through well lit focal points and landmarks and will be used to highlight character, cultural identity and creates a sense of drama.

Attention will be drawn to architectural features through the use of up lights and down lights and significant vertical surfaces can be emphasized with a wash of coloured light. Atmosphere is created through highlighting feature trees and streets trees with uplights, and special feature lighting to prominent landmarks. Clutter can be avoided in the public domain by integrating low level lighting into site furniture. Increased lighting would be provided in places of night activity, while low level lighting for pathways, edges and entrances enhance the safety of the development. Light fittings that are selected would be energy efficient and site specific, and where appropriate, integrated with other elements. No pole lighting would be used along the urban waterfront edge.

It is intended that the building sand landscape by softly lit. Bollard lights will provide the level of security required.

Street lighting will be provided by lighting standard to the requirement of local government.

Waterfront lighting will be activated around the edge of the promenade and this will be concealed within the seating of the promenade.
